Fashion Wrap Up Launch Party 7/1/10

I just realized today that I hadn't posted anything to the blog about the recent Red Carpet Party I attended. Hosted by the NEW online magazine, Fashion Wrap Up, the event was fantastic. MadrinDesigns was there as a vendor of course, but that didn't stop us from meeting an amazing group of people and seeing the incredible fashions provided by Gaby Couture and N. Rue.

It was a spectacular night! I met a gorgeous and super-talented hair designer, owner of Salon 118 in Fishers, Ms. Jessica Cripps! And the fab makeup artist, Ms. Stacey Mayo, owner of Stacey Mayo and Co. I saw both again yesterday, while getting some high and lowlights from Jessica and a super-cute cut!

I can't forget to mention Christy Cripe Pastore and Crystal Serowka of Fashion Wrap Up for putting together such an amazing fete.

I've included some photos taken by others, since I wasn't able to leave my spot during the night and take any of my own! Enjoy!

Two MadrinDesigns Events for Great Causes!

Date: Wednesday, May 5, 2010
Time: 10 am to 4 pm
Location: The Artsgarden at Circle Centre Mall
Downtown Indianapolis, IN

On May 5, 2010 the Childrens Bureau Auxiliary will host its 16th annual Fashion Show Luncheon and Blooming Boutiques fundraiser in downtown Indianapolis at Circle Centre Mall. Proceeds from the event are used to support and assist at-risk children and families.Harry & Izzys restaurant at the south end of Circle Centre Mall will provide the venue for the Fashion Show Luncheons 300 attendees. The Blooming Boutiques portion of the event will be held in the Artsgarden and open not only to luncheon attendees but also will be open and highly promoted to the general public, taking place at the opposite end of Circle Centre Mall in the beautiful glass-walled and plant-filled space that is so visible over Washington Street. The fashion show, luncheon and boutique event is hosted and entirely coordinated by the Childrens Bureau Auxiliary. Each year members work directly with children and provide funds for many needs of the families and children served by Childrens Bureau, Inc. We provide loving support, needed clothing, gifts, camp fees, lessons, health care, field trips, parties, and many other things. Our annual spring Fashion Show Luncheon fundraiser was expanded a few years ago to also include the Blooming Boutiques with vendors displaying their wares that include home décor, jewelry, apparel and art. We have made some exciting changes in the event for 2010 and hope you will participate and join us in our efforts to raise money to help children and families in need. This innovative new venue in a prominent, highly visible and publicly accessible space should not only increase exposure for our cause but should also increase street traffic, exposure, and sales for our vendors. Promotion to the downtown work force, residents and out-of-town visitors will be a major new focus, and plans are well underway. We are very excited! As we expand and develop this successful event, we invite you to participate in the 2010 Blooming Boutiques. Historically, the booths have generated substantial sales and this year, with the added focus on foot traffic from the general public, we are hoping for a significant increase in attendance. May is an active month in Indianapolis with race activities, the mini-marathon, etc. The timing is great for Mothers Day and graduation gifts too!

Brownsburg-This Weekend!

Look for these new items!

Festival of the Arts comes to Brownsburg (featuring MadrinDesigns) :)

by charlee beasor

BROWNSBURG Along with a name change, the 31st annual Festival of the Arts here this weekend is different in a few ways from previous years.

The event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18 at Arbuckle Acres Park, 200 N. Green St., is offering the name change, as well as a children’s area and a main entertainment stage.

Walt Duncan, executive director of the Brownsburg Chamber of Commerce, said they are trying to move away from the craft aspect of the event.

“Festival of the Arts it seems to lend itself more to what we’re trying to do,” he said. “Arts in the Park had the connotation of a crafty show. Crafts as we knew them years ago, homes were decorated differently than they are now. Now it’s Festival of the Arts.”

Duncan said they hoped to get attendance up this year, as it’s been dwindling in past years.

“In the past few years, crafts have been going down, and our income has been going down as well, to the point where it’s not really profitable for us,” he said. “We’re trying to turn it around and make it a new event in the community. It’s something we can do to bring people into our community and go from there.”

Duncan and the chamber have been working with ProCAM, which is a convention and meeting planning group based in Brownsburg.

Rachael Vaught is with the organization and has been helping to rejuvenate the event.

“(The chamber) brought us on board to give it a makeover,” Vaught said. “It’s always been called Arts in the Park, and we’re giving it a new name. With that, we’ve tried to add in new activities they’ve never had before.”

Some of those new activities include the children’s area, which is sponsored by Clarian West Hospital.

“HIP Studios has partnered with them,” Vaught said. “I think it’s the coolest thing here at the event. There are hands-on art activities and it’s totally free. It will be a great area for kids.”

She said they are trying to aim the event in more of a family direction.

“Traditionally, it would be women who would come out and shop and we want to try to get the whole family,” she said. “The other new area is a main entertainment stage. We’ll have Hendricks County musicians performing all day long, there will be plenty of tables and chairs and (it’s under a tent), so families can come in and listen to the music.”

Some of the music acts include solo artists Alisa Turner and Jeffrey James, bands “Higher Ground,” “Called,” “The West Wind Big Band,” and “The Jazz Torino.”

The group has also tried new marketing tactics, including a banner that stretches across U.S. 136.

“It’s something that’s right here in the park, something they’ve always had,” Vaught said. “Because we’re turning it to more of a family event, it’s one more way to show what a great town Brownsburg is and showcase what we have here.”

Admission to the event is $3 per person and proceeds benefit the Brownsburg Chamber of Commerce. Children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free.

For more information or to volunteer, visit the website at www.brownsburgfota.com or call 313-9654.
